When do I use signs to inform other users of lab.facilities, and how are they used ?

Signs should always be set up just above the handle of the doors that you want to protect against "unauthorized" entrance. The signs could be used for restricting access to the rooms during experiments and measurements.

The red sign is setup when actual measurements or experiments is running. This sign means that nobody have access to the room except those in charge of the measurement/experiment.

The red sign should always be changed to red/yellow sign during pauses/break (>1/2 hour) and after measurements is ended.

When you have a calibrated setup then you should put up red/yellow sign which means calibrated setup so don't even touch connected equipment.

When you "play around" with a setup you can put up the yellow sign giving the message that somebody is using the room but access is allowed as long as others don't move equipment from and don't changes anything in setups including computers connected.

It's allowed to pick up unused equipment (if needed elsewhere) in the room.

When you've finished your experiment/measurement all equipment should immediately be put back into place and yellow signs removed and green signs put up to show that the room is free.

If you (or your group) don't follow our rules concerning use of these signs in our facilities the penalty will be free "Friday beers" - and this applies both to stud.groups and staff members.
