RISC Lab

The RISC group has excellent measurement facilities containing advanced measurement hardware for RFIC characterization and testing. This includes; Cascade Summit 9000 manual probe station, Cascade Microtech ACP40 GSG and GSGSG probes, HP8510C/HP8515A/HP83631B vector network analyzer system (45 MHz - 26.5 GHz), HP8970B/HP8971C noise figure meter & test set (10 MHz - 26.5 GHz), HP3458 digital multimeter, Rohde & Schwarz AMIQ I/Q modulation generator, Rohde & Schwarz SMIQ06B vector signal generator (300 kHz - 6.4 GHz), Rohde & Schwarz FSIQ26 vector signal analyzer (20 Hz - 27 GHz), Rohde & Schwarz SMR20 signal generator (1 GHz - 20 GHz), Rohde & Schwarz NRVS power meter, Maury Microwave MT980M Automated Tuner System (0.8 GHz - 18 GHz).

This makes it possible to perform DC characterization, small or large signal S-parameter measurements, load-pull measurements, large-signal harmonic and intermodulation measurements, measurements using modulated signals (including PSD and EVM measurements for e.g. EDGE or WCDMA) and noise measurements, to name a few.

Two PCs with a USB/GPIB interface can be used to run automated measurements. National Instruments LabView is the platform of choice, and several automated measurement setups have already been implemented in LabView. In addition, Agilent Vee and locally developed software are also available.

The RISC laboratory's address is; Aalborg University, Niels Jernes Vej 12, room A6-222, DK-9220 Aalborg. Tel: +45 9635 8694.
