Digital Audio Workstation
We have choosen to use soundcards from RME-Audio as primary interface for our DAW's since these soundcards have good specs and are supported both by Linux- and Windows OS'es (not all cards supported by Linux). As host for audio workstations we're using different pc's ranging from PIII 866MHz to octa-core 3GHz i7 pc's.
We try to assign pc's and configuration (hardware/software) for projects based on "what-will-be-needed-for-this-project"-evaluation together with students and supervisor. Number of possible audio-channels range from 2 to 72 channels in and out (= total 144 audio I/O channel)
